You don’t hear many sermons on what God Almighty looks like and what Lucifer looks like but this is not because the information wasn’t given to us. I assume it’s because maybe some preachers these days consider the scripture to be more “allegory” than reality and so they focus on how some of it “applies” to your life. Unbelievers don’t get uptight when you talk about haunted this or that or even alien abductions but when it comes to the notion of pure good vs. pure evil then many assign that to fantasy.
The scripture contends that Lucifer is a created being and that God Almighty is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end and the creator. The scripture likely means the end of the Earth and time, yes, the scripture maintains that time will sometime stop and eternity will still be happening. So if you are curious what these beings look like, I’m placing the information here.
26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. Ezekiel 1
That is the description of what we Christians refer to as God the Father. He has a being that stays in his presence that, in my estimation, seems to be part of him and seems to announce the actions of the Holy Spirit, which is also part of him, if you would have it that the Holy Spirit is represented by the four horseman of Revelation. (I am almost totally isolated in that belief but I can explain my reasons for believing it.) The following is the complicated description of the being that stays in his presence:
4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.
9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.
11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. Ezekiel 1
Pretty progressive stuff considering it was written well over two thousand years ago whether you believe in it or not.
Now to show you the description of Lucifer:
11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Ezekiel 28
I believe he is referred to in this passage as the king of Tyrus because he was worshiped there at that time no matter what the natives were calling him. I believe he is Lucifer because the scripture says he was in Eden. I find it interesting that he’s referred to as the covering cherub, which is a creature of higher order than an angel. My PERSONAL belief is that he was designed to serve man and my hypothesis is supported by the fact that everything about him are things men still find pleasing in the world today. I cannot dismiss the phrase “covering cherub” when the Genesis story reports that Adam and Eve noticed that they were naked when they had not made this observation before. The Lord began speaking to this “king” at the beginning of the passage about his mental attributes and those are most helpful in understanding not only Lucifer’s mindset, but often the mindset of those who find themselves in league with him by default, meaning, not in league with the Lord. Scripture also refers to him as the accuser of the brethren. I’ve written about that for years in the context of why it was Lucifer who wanted them to have the knowledge of good and evil and why Lucifer is so involved in creating so many religions based on behavior modification. On the surface such things seem to be a noble cause but Jesus spoke to the experts in the field and called them “whitewashed tombs.”
I believe the Lord has shown the world one of the horseman, an aspect of the Holy Spirit designed to address the unbelieving world and do as Christ said the Holy Spirit would do with them when he arrived here:
4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. John 16
It is necessary that you understand the Holy Spirit because he, too, is an aspect of God as surely as Christ is. Genesis said Elohim (a plural word for a singular God) created man in his image and likeness. To understand that condition I think of it this way: I am a body, a spirit, and a soul, these three are all me but not the same things. Such as it is with the Lord. I will try to add the live video shot at the beginning of the Arab spring that I believe shows one of the horsemen.
