God Is Not Anything (2)

  • Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that we have a new nature. Our old nature is gone and ALL things have become new. We are righteous. The finished work of the cross was for the old man not for the new man.

Many are still trying to crucify the new man through works and performance based Christianity. Quit wrestling with the old man. “Well, Paul wrestled with the old man.” No he did not. You need to quit listening to false teaching, quit reading your bible, and start studying your bible. When Paul talked about struggling in Romans 7, he was talking about his life under the law, not his life under grace.

If someone else taught you that you are a sinner and not righteous, then when you think you’ve sinned you would have to be sinning by faith, because that’s what you’re believing.

This is not to condemn you, but to set you free. If the righteous scarcely be saved… (1 Peter 4:18). If you continue to listen to the lies of the enemy regarding your righteousness in Christ and believing the lie instead of the truth, you are going back to the grave and digging up the old man. You are basically kicking him and listening to him which is called necromancy. Actually you are taunting the old man. He is not taunting you.

Is your old man that died in your house or temple gone? He should be, because you are now a dwelling place for God the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16 in the Voice version reads “Don’t you understand that together you form a temple to the living God and His Spirit lives among you”? You and I are the temple of God.

Galatians 2:20 reads “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. Does your old man keep rising up? Well if you’ve been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20), then your old man is dead. How can he come back? Your house where God dwells is being spiritually invaded by a trespasser.

Time to repent of your wrong believing and begin to let the truth of scripture describe fully who you are in Christ and who He is in you. John 8:32 says “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”. So then, if the knowledge of the truth makes you free, then it’s error that binds you.

When you are saved, you are set free from all sin. We’ve already gone over that.

However, the church has told you the reason you still sin is because of your old nature. Wrong! We’ve already gone over that lie. It’s because your mind has not been renewed to right believing.

So, you see, God is not anything like you think He is. He loves us for ourselves, not for our efforts to please him. He values our love more than our performance. God does not bless us based on our performance. He blesses us based on His promises. It’s not what we can or will do. It’s all about what Jesus has done through the finished work of the cross.

Finally this quote. “Until you fully comprehend the finality of the cross, you will never experience the power of the resurrection.” Paul said “That I might know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering”. That should be our desire.

    Grace and Peace.
